Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Henry Cisneros will keynote the 2005 N.C. Housing Forum, October 11, at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro.
Hosted by the N.C. Housing Finance Agency, the statewide conference is expected to attract 500 developers, lenders, nonprofit organizations and local governments that participate in the affordable housing industry.
Cisneros’ topic will be “Housing Americans in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities.” Cisneros, who served in the Clinton Administration, is now chairman of CityView, a community-building company dedicated to producing workforce homes in the central neighborhoods of America ’s urban areas. The company identifies sites, plans neighborhoods, acquires and develops land, finances communities and builds homes to create “villages within cities” that respect community preferences and provide home ownership opportunities for city residents. He is co-author of Opportunity and Progress: A Bipartisan Platform for National Housing Policy, published this year by the Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard. His talk begins at 9:30 a.m.
